Product description

Raw materials, manufacture

CC Höganäs dry-pressed tiles are made from selected pulverized clays. Cove skirting tiles and angle tiles are shaped from wet clay. CC Höganäs extruded tiles are formed by extrusion. Yellow tiles are made of stonewear clays that turn yellow when fired. The colour is obtained without addition of pigments.
Blue-brown and Ivory tiles are made of clays that become light in colour when fired, the colour is obtained by adding metal oxides to the stonewear clay. The addition of chamotte gives the surface of the tiles a slight texture. The tiles are extruded and then fired in a tunnel kiln. The addition of chamotte gives the surface of the tiles a slight texture. Because of firing, slight variations from the standard colour are unavoidable.

Frost resistance

Tiles in series "500" are frostproof on vertical surfaces, on condition that they are laid in accordance with our instructions. They are not frostproof when laid in cement mortar on exposed horizontal surfaces outdoors, e.g. on terraces.

Series "1050" and "1850" are frostproof on vertical surfaces, on condition that they are laid in accordance with our instructions. They are not frostproof when laid in cement mortar on exposed horizontal surfaces outdoors.
Series "5350" and "8050" are frostproof.

Recommendation for use

Dry-pressed tiles

Dry pressed tiles with smooth surface are used where there is no risk of slipping i.e. floors kept dry and clean. The tiles with antiskid surface are used for floors exposed to water or oil spillage.
"500" series should be selected in industrial premises for floors that are exposed to heavy mechanical wear from trucks and heavy trolleys with hard wheels e.g. in slaughterhouses, breweries, dairies and food factories.
Grout with a high pigment content, e.g. CC Höganäs FB 21, FB 22 and FB 23, should not be used with tiles with textured surface.

Extruded tiles

These unglazed tiles can be used for both floors and walls. The properties of these tiles make them particularly suitable for floors that combine durability, resistance to chemicals, ease of cleaning and a non-slip surface, e.g. in industrial facilities, chemical factories, dairies, breweries and warehouses, laundries, boiler rooms, fire stations, etc.
These tiles can be used both indoors and outdoors. The limits imposed by the frost resistance of the tiles must be considered in connection with outdoor applications.
Tiles with a thickness of 12 mm can be used for floors on which traffic is restricted to pedestrians only and light trolleys with soft wheels. Tiles with a thickness of 15 and 19 mm should be selected for floors that are exposed to heavy mechanical wear in the form of trucks and heavy trolleys with hard wheels and wheel pressure exceeding 600 kp.
